Why You Should Join a Small Group

Aside from celebrating Mass, do you dedicate time to God throughout the week? The outside world can be distracting, and busy parents sometimes struggle to find time for themselves. By joining a virtual or in-person small group, you can create relationships with others, as well as focus on your relationship with God, in a way that makes sense for your schedule.

Sense of Community

A small group is just that: small. While it’s beneficial to join your parish family for Mass, a small group offers a relaxed environment where you can share prayer requests, read the Bible, and grow in your relationship with God. The Bible calls us to community and relationships. Small groups create the perfect opportunity to enjoy community in the way that God intended.

Shared Accountability

Your small group can hold you accountable to committing time to God. Ask members to check up on you and encourage you to read the Bible, pray regularly, or attend Mass. By listening to other members’ thoughts, doubts, praises, and ideas, you grow in your faith. You open your mind to different ways of thinking and understand Scripture from new perspectives.

How to Join a Small Group

Talk to your parish leaders. They will be more than happy to direct you to different small group leaders who can help you find a group that fits your needs. You can also talk to friends who attend small groups and ask to visit their group!

Virtual Small Groups

If you’re not quite ready to meet with those outside of your circle in person, there’s always the option of joining a virtual small group— or even starting one! Talk to your parish leaders to see what virtual options are available. Brush up on your video conferencing etiquette, and get ready to come together with like minded adults in a small group setting.
